I qualified as an Architect in 2003 after graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2002 and am a registered member of the ARB and the RIBA. I work for Hulme Upright Architects, a large and well established practice in Stoke on Trent and Manchester where I have accumulated many years of experience working on a variety of different projects ranging from small scale one off housing projects to larger master planning projects in residential, commercial, health, industrial, community and educational sectors. The work has included new, existing and listed buildings using a number of procurement techniques. I believe I am a friendly and approachable Architect who is passionate about design and sustainability. I enjoy meeting clients, listening to their requirements and building up a clear understanding of what is required and the reasons why, developing an innovative, responsive, sustainable and contextual design solution in close conjunction with the client and other members of the design team. I believe creating buildings and environments that are both stimulating and inspiring. I frequently enter architectural design competitions and have had many of my entries short listed and exhibited. I have an excellent range of presentation skills including free hand sketching and use a wide range of computer aided software. I also have knowledge of and experience of using sustainable and ecological construction practices and current building legislation including passive solar heating, low embodied energy design, use of renewable energy systems, sustainable drainage, whole house ventilation, heat recovery and building management systems. I enjoy many aspects of my career both academic and social and it has also enabled me to actively pursue my interest in travelling, painting, drawing, photography and film making. If you have any queries, or would like to speak to me further, please contact me. |
